After Djuma Soundsystem’s fantastic entry into the Body Language series, comes a second standalone EP taken from it that features three tracks plus one exclusive remix. Once again the Scandinavian melodic house master and core Get Physical artist is behind all four tracks but each one gets remixed in style by the likes of Team Distant, Karyendasoul and Bongo & Pusk.
But first up are Armonica, the charismatic Italian duo from Riccione, with a take on ‘Soma’ that is an epic bit of deep house with grandiose chords that reach to the night skies as twinkling keys rain down in emotive fashion. Team Distant are regular Beatport Chart toppers thanks to their accessible and effective tech house sound and here they tackle ‘Ménage A Moi’. It has a tribal feel that builds through afro drums and loose hits and always keeps you on edge with subtle vocal chants and a live, organic groove.
Karyendasoul is a multi talented young DJ and producer from a small town in the Eastern Cape Province in South Africa and brings plenty of warm spiritual and unhurried synths and rolling drums. His colourful remix is one that has you gazing into the distance and getting lost in his magical chord patterns. Closing out another vital package are Bongo & Pusk who remix their own collaboration with Djuma Soundsystem. It becomes a cosmic affair, with gentle chord progressions lifting your spirits and eventually your hands as the whole thing crescendos with real gravitas.
These are four more cultured house tracks that all bring plenty of real feeling to the dance floor.
Sales from these three muted deep house tracks, which are heavy on texture and atmosphere, go to benefit the people of Beirut. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 6, 2020
